History of the CHORDMASTERS
The Chordmasters have been ringing chords throughout the Northwest Suburban Area since Valentine's Day of 2001. At the beginning of 2003, we had to restructure ourselves. One of our members had to leave due to the demands of his job. We were fortunate to find a replacement in Dave King who had joined the Arlingtones in September of 2002. It was immediately apparent that he not only had a good voice but that he had a knack for barbershop harmony. Happily for us, he joined The Chordmasters where he has been singing lead for the last two years. Elmer continues to sing the high tenor notes, Bernie hits the lower ones, and Jim finishes out the four note chord at baritone.
The Chordmasters are fortunate to have another very capable tenor, Jack Musich, to substitute when Elmer can't make it due to work commitments. Jack has been singing tenor for, well, for a very long time and practices with us regularly.

In the last four years, we have performed in Lake Zurich, Waukegan, Lake Forest, Bannockburn, Vernon Hills, Lincolnshire, Northbrook, Glencoe, Evanston, Niles, Chicago, Lombard, Palos Heights, Itasca, Naperville, Bartlett, Aurora,  Arlington Heights, Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Elmhurst, Minooka, and a few other places in between. We have sung for "Village Days", business functions, Christmas parties, retirement homes, family reunions, veterans' groups, property owners' associations, volunteer appreciation luncheons, employee ice cream socials, church suppers,  birthday parties, and various other functions.

Our songs, while primarily in the babershop style of harmony vary from oldies such as the Civil War era "Aura Lee" to the Beatles' "When I'm Sixty-four" and from the serious "Precious Lord", to the light hearted, "Please Mr. Columbus, Turn the Ship Around." We try to customize our music to fit the occasion and, when appropriate, encourage audience participation.

We hope that we will have the opportunity to entertain you and yours at some point in the near future.

(We are members of the Arlingtones Barbershop Chorus and the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America.)
